Melinda Vooss Creative Arts Festival
The Melinda Vooss Creative Arts Festival embodies the foundation's mission by celebrating and nurturing creativity in young minds. Rooted in our belief in the power of the arts to inspire, the festival highlights our commitment to fostering artistic expression and building community through the arts. It serves as a platform for students to showcase their talents and embrace their inner artists, promoting the joy and confidence that creative exploration can bring.
Established in 2023, the festival is help annually at Chesapeake Bay Academy, the only independent school in Southeastern Virginia dedicated to serving students grades 1-12 with a variety of learning differences. The festival expands the school’s traditional art show into an event that embraces the full spectrum of the creative arts, showcasing the talents of CBA students and demonstrating the transformative power of the arts in education. It includes performances of original music, poetry, and choral and instrumental pieces, alongside student artwork spanning media such as fiber arts, collage, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.
Special performances and artwork by Melinda's former students at and colleagues at CBA add a personal tribute, making the event a powerful celebration of her lasting impact.
