Art Therapy @ Chesapeake Bay Academy

For Melinda, art was always more than just a creative expression—it was a platform for growth, support, and exploration, particularly for students with unique learning needs. At Chesapeake Bay Academy (CBA), Melinda's passion for empowering students aligned perfectly with the school's mission to support children who learn differently. In honor of her legacy and work as the high school art teacher at CBA, we are proud to provide direct financial support to CBA’s Art Therapy program.

Art Therapy is a unique initiative that uses the creative process to promote emotional well-being and helps students build confidence and self-awareness, essential aspects of their personalized education at CBA. Through CBA’s long-standing partnership with Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), students have the opportunity to work with Art Therapy interns throughout the year. Interns guide students through activities like watercolor painting, clay work, and other creative processes, fostering personal development and emotional regulation. Through this sponsorship, we provide resources for these vital services that ensure students have the support they need to thrive.
